This is a wonderful example of a Spalding landscape done in the modernist style which she adopted later in her career. It measures 16"x20" and is signed and titled lower right," Above Manitou April, by Elisabeth Spalding, painted there 1928"

Spalding studied painting with Childe Hassam, Alden Weir and John Twachtman and had work exhibited in Paris, Stockholm, Chicago, and New York. She was instrumental in the formation of the Denver Art Musuem and the Denver Art Association.
