Plateau Doll C. 1880

This rare and beautiful circa 1880 Plateau Doll is 16" tall, unusually tall for a doll of this period. She has a cloth body with hide dress and arms. She has a gathered nose and remnants of paint on her face. One shell earring is missing as is one shoe, and there is minor bead loss to her lazy stitched, fully beaded dress yoke, done in light blue and translucent red, thread sewn. Her hair is sewn on and is likely horse mane or tail. She has a belt tied on which is old trade cloth with aniline purple dye. An elegantly styled and proportioned example of a rare type.
