Item 21

(Item: IR8436)
Bisti area Navajo rug, 6'2" x 9'10". Bisti rugs are among the rarest of all Navajo weavings. They were woven in the Bisti Badlands area of Arizona in the late 1920's and early 1930's. They are characterized by curvilinear designs that are not seen in any other type of Navajo rug. In order to draw the curved designs, an extraordinary degree of fineness in the weave was required, making these rugs very thin and canvass-like in texture. This piece is in fine condition and has a slight degree of fading on one side. Provenence available to the buyer.
